Affekti. Bridging Psychology and Accessible Learning

Overview

Role: Lead Product Designer
Timeline: 6 weeks
Scope: Product strategy, low & high-fidelity wireframes, landing page design, prototyping

Affekti is an online learning platform designed to make psychology education more accessible and engaging. Inspired by platforms like Coursera and Udemy, Affekti connects learners with industry professionals who offer psychology-focused video courses and downloadable resources.

My goal was to design a product experience that feels professional yet human — a space where experts can easily share their knowledge, and learners can explore topics that help them grow both personally and professionally.

Problem

Most online learning platforms treat psychology courses the same as any other topic — transactional, overly structured, and detached from real-world emotional learning. I noticed a gap: there was no dedicated space where mental health professionals and enthusiasts could exchange psychological insights in a structured yet approachable way.

Core challenge:
How might we design a learning platform that makes psychological knowledge more accessible, while maintaining the trust, credibility, and empathy this field requires?

Approach

I began by analyzing existing platforms (Udemy, MasterClass, Coursera) to identify what worked — scalability, clarity, and trust — and what didn’t: the emotional disconnect and generic learning flow.
I defined Affekti’s key experience pillars:

Trust: verified mentors and transparent course information

Warmth: a visual language that feels calm, professional, and human

Ease: a seamless flow for both mentors and learners

Process

1. Low-Fidelity Wireframes
I started with user flows for two key personas — mentors and learners.
Mentors needed a quick way to upload content and track engagement, while learners required an intuitive search and discovery experience. I sketched out user journeys and wireframes to map the onboarding, browsing, and purchase flows.

2. High-Fidelity Design & Landing Page
Once the structure felt solid, I moved into the UI phase. I chose a muted color palette to reflect calmness and focus — blues, creams, and soft neutrals — and paired it with minimal typography. The landing page was designed to introduce Affekti’s value with clarity: what it is, who it’s for, and how it works.

3. Prototyping & Interaction Design
I built an interactive prototype that simulates the learner flow — from course discovery to checkout — and the mentor dashboard. Subtle microinteractions (hover states, smooth transitions) add polish while supporting usability.

Solution

The final design delivers a clean, scalable platform that feels like a bridge between academia and empathy. Users can easily explore video courses, download materials, and even connect with mentors for guidance.

Key screens include:

Home & Discovery: Curated psychology topics, trending mentors

Course Page: Transparent structure, lesson previews, and ratings

Mentor Dashboard: Uploads, analytics, and community tools

Impact & Learnings

Affekti taught me how important emotional context is in product design — especially when building trust in educational spaces. By approaching the project with both structure and empathy, I learned to balance usability with human warmth, ensuring the platform feels both credible and approachable.

This project strengthened my ability to define a problem through observation and design a meaningful, user-centered solution from scratch
